Blue Teal Vineyards was founded in 1983 by Herve Lescombes, and is still owned today by the Lescombes family. Before planting vineyards in New Mexico, Mr. Lescombes operated the Domaine de Perignon winery in Burgundy, France as a 5th generation winemaker. Looking for bigger opportunities, Mr. Lescombes decided to move to the United States. He selected New Mexico because its hot dry desert days, cool nights, and sandy soil was similar to his native Algeria. When the vineyard yielded its first crop, the Blue Teal Vineyards label was born.

Blue Teal Vineyards is made entirely of grapes grown in New Mexico by the Lescombes family. We currently produce 7 white wines, 5 red wines, and a rosé champagne. Our varietals include Muscat, White Zinfandel, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. In 1999, we added the DH Lescombes label to the product line. Products in the DH Lescombes line include premium oak-barrel aged New Mexico Chardonnay, Fumé Blanc Cabernet and Syrah as well as a methode champenoise champagnes including our famous raspberry champagne, Imperial Kir.

Blue Teal Vineyards is a family run business. Herve's sons, Florent and Emmanuel, joined Herve in running the business when they were old enough. Today, Florent is the 6th generation winemaker, and Emmanuel is the viticulturist. Herve makes sure the winery runs smoothly and continues to pass his knowledge onto his sons. Herve's wife Danielle runs the Blue Teal Vineyards tasting room near historic Old Mesilla in Las Cruces. The tasting room features free samples of all of our wines and champagnes daily.

A special attraction is our hand-painted bottles. We employ local artists to paint custom designs on champagne for a unique gift. These bottles are especially popular for birthdays, graduations, Christmas, and New Year's. Click here to go to the designs..
